Wendy Bialek
Wendy the Weaver
In an era when textiles are largely produced by machine and/or third-world production weavers, the process of creating one-of-a-kind textile art by hand is truly an art form.
Hand weaving, quilting, felting and many other textile techniques are alive and well in the magical studio of Wendy Bialek, where she fuses time-honored skills and craftsmanship with modern artistic vision. Her clients will tell you that Wendy weaves more than fiber in creating her art for interiors. Love, joy, and intention are equally important ingredients that show unmistakably in her work, bestowing a sense of magic, majesty, and spiritual connection.
Wendy has been well known for her woven art in residential and commercial settings. Now she is focused on continuing to expand her ever growing knowledge of techniques to include contemporary quilts and vessels.
Wendy’s passion for her work is reflected in her ability to intuitively transform raw materials into beautiful cloth. She expresses her commitment to quality and styling through careful attention to detail in every stage of the creative process. Wendy combines her trademark sense of color, texture, and pattern to create diverse collections, often integrating wood, copper, glass and beads that set off the art piece.
Wendy’s mastery draws from over sixty years of experience in the textile arts starting as a young child, at twenty-two years old completing an Associate degree from the Fiber program at Haywood Community College, then earning a Bachelor of Arts degree from Guilford College and a Masters in Education from Ohio University. She has always been inspired by the time-honored ancient traditions of artisans from cultures around the world. In turn, her unique works have graced dozens of exhibits, homes, and offices.
Custom commissions are Wendy’s specialty. Her greatest pleasure is to create unique textile art that serves the specific needs and desires of each client — decorating homes or offices, and sacred spaces. Feel free to make an appointment to visit her studio in Sedona, Arizona to co-create your special one-of-a-kind textile art piece.
